STUDENT REQUIRMENTS FOR ADMISSION
Academic
- Cumulative records are required and will be requested for all applicants and entrance testing is required; with the exception of students entering kindergarten & pre-kindergarten.
- An application for enrollment is encouraged when student success is predicted and student needs can be met. We realize, however, that Treasure Valley Christian School cannot meet the learning needs of all students. If an applicant’s evaluation data is below grade level, she/he may be required to do remedial work, may be accepted at the previous grade level, or may not be accepted for enrollment. This depends upon the severity of the learning disability or lack of previous education the student may have.
- Disclosure of diagnosed learning problems is necessary and required at the time of application.
- According to State of Oregon regulations, students with suspected disabilities can be assessed at the school, however our school is not equipped to provide services for disabilities.
Behavioral
- The student must evidence age-appropriate stability, attention span, and self-discipline.
- The applicant must display necessary social skills to function in a group.
- For the benefit of school staff and parents who are working together for the success of students, parental disclosure of behavior and emotional difficulties is necessary and required at the time of application.
- The applicant must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the school.
Spiritual and Motivational
- The applicant must be receptive to spiritual instruction and guidance.
- The applicant must display a cooperative spirit and a responsive heart attitude.
PARENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Spiritual
- Parents are encouraged to fellowship with a local body of believers.
- Parents should encourage their children to read the Bible and follow its teachings.
Demonstrated Interest and Cooperation
- Parents must meet with an administrator prior to the student’s admittance.
- Parents must agree with and sign the application for enrollment.
- Parents must demonstrate interest and support of the teachers and educational program.
- Parents must be willing to work with students and staff in annual fundraisers.
- Parents are encouraged to assist the school in transporting students whenever they can and as
requested by teachers and staff. A copy of driver’s license and current auto insurance is required.
Financial Responsibility
- Parents agree to plan and budget for the cost of Christian education.
- A family transferring from another Christian school may not be accepted if a past due balance is owed that school unless suitable financial arrangements have been made.
- Returning families will not be admitted if they owe a balance from the previous school year.
FINAL ACCEPTANCE
- The school reserves the right to deny enrollment to any parent or student whose beliefs, values, or interpretation of Scripture is in conflict with those of the school.
- The grade placement for all students is determined by the administration, teachers, and staff.
- If upon receipt of the student’s cumulative file, previously undisclosed information is found that may have had a bearing on the student’s admission to TVCS, parents may be asked to withdraw the student.
- All families must reserve a classroom spot for each child yearly. An application fee is required yearly and can be done as early as March each year. This fee is non-refundable. Due to the combined classroom structure and limited enrollment, early application for enrollment is highly recommended.
- The first nine weeks of all new students’ enrollment are considered a probation period.
PLACEMENT POLICY
Final placement of all students is made at the discretion of the administration and classroom teachers based on the following factors:
- Class size and available class openings
- Student ability/learning style/special needs
- Teacher recommendation regarding social mix of students.
